wanted you so bad

Foxela x Chelsea Cara

Chelsea decided to write ‘wanted you so bad’ after experiencing rejection from someone she really liked. “I tried to show the dilemma I was facing and the painful choices I had to make,” the alt pop singer-songwriter shares, “I had all these emotions I was trying to make sense of.”

“Am I building a wall just to break it / am I strong enough to hold it down / but with one look, oh no you got me now”, sings Chelsea, building up to Foxela’s cathartic instrumental drop. She channels her frustrations with a delicate but soulful performance that feels at home with the song’s tropical house-inspired production.

“The drop is definitely my favourite part of the song”, shares Foxela, “I wanted to push myself outside of my comfort zone and I’m really happy with the result.”

[Verse 1]
You know it’s hard for me to be around you
That night, it opened up my eyes, saw the real you
You’re so pure, have a heart of gold
You are the warmth in all the cold
I only wished that you didn’t know the real truth

What to do? Can’t decide
Do I cry? Do I say I’m okay and try to mask all the pain?
Comprehend all the times
Hopes were high, played with me
Everytime like it’s all fun and games
Maybe someday there’s a chance you will feel the same too

[Pre-Chorus]
You know I never really wanted you so bad
Nowhere to run, never felt so trapped
I know that I could just forget all about this
My mind at war with my heart
To lose it or break it
Am I building a wall just to break it
Am i strong enough to hold it down
But with one look, oh no you got me now

[Verse 2]
Staring at the black mirror, hope it lights up
My patience’s getting thinner, eyes slowly shut
See your name, like cocaine
Man you got me high
Grey to blue, how do you
Make me alive
Oh baby

[Pre-Chorus]
You know I never really wanted you so bad
Nowhere to run, never felt so trapped
I know that I could just forget all about this
My mind at war with my heart
To lose it or break it
Am I building a wall just to break it
Am I strong enough to hold it down
But with one look, oh no you got me now
